How Long Have You Been In Business?

“I started Mike Testa Plumbing in 1989. My father was a plumber for over 30 years. So was my grandfather, right here in Marin County, back in the ’40s.”

For Emergencies Can You Do Same Day Service?

“If you have a serious problem that needs an immediate response, we will try to accommodate you the same day. On the rare occasion, we are overbooked, we can refer you to another reputable plumbing company who can take care of your issue.”

How Does Your Scheduling Work?

“Appointments are scheduled within a two-hour window. We understand plumbing issues are serious, and the longer you have to wait the worst the issue can become so we do our best to arrive to fix the problem in the least amount of time possible.”

How Do You Charge

Mike is an old-fashioned kind of guy and that is reflected in our charges. We still believe that the fairest way to charge for basic service is based on time spent and material used. We charge 170.00 an hour (160.00 an hour for seniors 65+) and have a one-hour minimum charge. Our labor time starts when our technician starts driving to your property and after the first hour, we charge in ¼ hour increments. Plus, the cost of any material used during the repair. There is no diagnostic or service fee, ever.

Do You Charge A Flat Fee Or Hourly Rate?

“We charge an hourly rate because we think it is fairer for our customers. One problem with flat fee structure is after providing an estimate it is common for there to be unexpected issues once the project is started. A change order must be created and approved before continuing, and if the customer is not around the repairs have to come to a halt. With hourly pricing, the plumber can take care of the issue and invoice for the hours of work provided.

Is Paying A Diagnostic fee a bad idea?

 “No, not at all. It’s just not how we prefer to do business. In the long run, we think it’s better for everyone that we go out, fix the problem, and charge a reasonable rate for the time spent actually fixing the problem. We think that’s the fairest way. There are some types of jobs that we do quote diagnostic fees for, but for most repairs, an hourly rate is best for the consumer.”

What Is The Warranty Policy On Appliances That You Install?

“We back factory warranties on products. In addition, we provide a one-year warranty on installation.”

What Brands Do You Use

At Mike Testa Plumbing, when we provide something, we want to make sure it lasts as long as possible. This is why we only supply fixtures from well-established companies like Bradford White and Moen. And when we perform repairs, we use OEM parts to make sure they work with your products.

“Yes. We offer a $10.00 per hour discount to seniors.”
